Cais is a Maze

My first experience in Centre of Academic and Information Service (Cais) feel like I'm playing a maze. Have you ever watch "Maze Runner" movie? That is how it feel like except the things in Cais doesn't change its position every night. The reason I said that Cais is a maze because I'm a mess searching for a book there.

We're assigned to search for books in Cais but personally, I think it not just for us to search for the books but actually for us to explore Cais and learn how to use the facilities there. To enter Cais, you have to follow the rule where they have a dress code for student and it is compulsory for student to wear their matric card in there. Without matric card, students are not allowed to enter the Cais. Cais building have 5 levels start from LG to Level 3 where Level 3 is their main office located.

This is CAIS ONESEARCH's corner. It is the first things your eyes will land on once you enter the entrance gate. What does it for? It is for the user to search for the book the want to find. You can search it by enter the keyword, title, the author, subject, ISSN, ISBN, serial or call number of the book. Then, the page will show you the availability of the book either it inside the building or being borrowed by others. If it is available at the moment, it will show the current location of the book. Sound easy right? That what I thought at first.

Like other library, Cais is same too, where it has many book shelves. I really thought it would be easy to find the book. Knowing the location code is not the only things you need for you to find the book but also a sharp eyes. It is a library so of course it has a lot of books there. My eyes hurt by reading all those call number on the book. When you read the first number, you will thought you find it until you see the next number. It is not the book you are looking for. The frustrating part is when you could not find the book in the shelves but then once you look for it on the trolley, there it is. Spending almost an hour to find the book from left to right, from up to down then after all this time, it just on the trolley. Yeah, maybe there's someone before you using the book then she/he put it inside the trolley or maybe it just your unlucky day because once you know the steps to find the book, it will be a lot easier.

However, I do think Cais is really helpful and a perfect location for students to do their revision and works. The vibes there make you more focus and determined to finish your work than in your room as you will become distracted by the bed or gadget. I said it because that what I really experienced. It's hard for me to focus in my own room because there's too much distraction and make my work slower but after I push myself to walk and study at Cais, I manage to finish my assignments, tutorial and revision like I want it to be. Cais is a perfect option if you want to do your revision especially later during study week. The surroundings really help you to focus on what you work for.
